I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 when I was 41 yr old.  My son was only 6 years old at that time.  When I was first diagnosed, the first thing that came to my mind was “I am going to die”.  I was lost and didn’t know what to do apart from crying.  It was hard for me to break the news to my mum but knew I had to.  The next day my husband and I went down to KL for second opinion.

I had a lumpectomy done on 17th Feb 2011, also the last day of Chinese New Year.  We brought all our CNY’s biscuits and oranges to the hospital and we celebrated Chap Goh Mei in there.  I completed chemotherapy and then followed by radiotherapy.  During the treatment, my husband and my mum gave me all their supports.  I felt blessed and loved.

With the second chance of living, I have made changes to myself.  I changed job and changed myself towards a healthier lifestyle – taking regular exercises, more healthy foods and trying out things that I never done before.  I always stay focus, stay positive, moving forward, and appreciative of what I have.

I also joined a breast cancer support group – Pink Champion because I find it very important. We can always lift up our spirits and soul from time to time.  Being with the cancer survivors we motivate each other and we are bonded just like family members.
